Nicia's Pet Depot® was pleased to host Tuffies Animal Rescue at a last minue adoption faire rescue event last Saturday, August 22, 2009.  The event was a HUGE success!

Tuffies trailer showed up with about eleven dogs which took about 45 minutes to unload completely. Once set up it was up to the dogs to announce the start of the faire. And, announce they did. By the end of the event almost all dogs found loving homes. The story goes like this into the early evening both Bo then Ford were adopted. While Tuffies was packing up to leave, Marshall was adopted by a gentleman after his fiancée told him he should have a look at the dog. A family adopted Rosie, having the same name and losing their dog eight months ago, the adoptive mom in tears out of happiness and took Rosie home. Chelsea was adopted, Gus went into a foster along with Misty. Doggie, Drew, met with a family on Sunday for adoption. Hopefully good news there. Elsie may go into a foster if the meeting was successful. After all the foster deliveries, Tuffies may have had to return to Arizona with no dogs in their trailer!  How about that for a successful adoption faire!  Unheard of!

Nicia's is pleased to welcome "Outcast Cat Help" organization into the store with their foster cats on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 2pm. Outcast Cat Help is dedicated to helping the community humanely control and care for stray and feral cats and is a no-kill organization. 

We know this event will be very successful and it is one of the many ways Nicia''s Pet Depot can give back to the animal community. If someone is looking to adopt a dog or cat, we encourage you to consider adoption first, and invite you to stop by on Saturdays and Sundays while the adoptions are taking place.

Nicia's Pet Depot donated a red, jeweled, fancy dog collar designed by Glitzy Pet Jewelry to the "Mardi Gras" Bollinger Canyon Elementary School fundraising auction event. The "Mardi Gras Magic" Dinner Auction fundraiser is being held at the Marriott on March 21, 2009 to raise money to maintain and enhance the quality of education at Bollinger Canyon Elementary School. Nicia's Pet Depot is thrilled to be able to support Bollinger Elementary.

We couldn't be more excited about our new hire, Cheriott, a graduate of "Petite Pooch Chateau Dog Grooming Academy, with more than five years of grooming experience from East to West Coast. Cheriott grooms all breeds of dogs including specialty breeds such as yorkshire terriers, malteses, miniature schnausers, shih tzus, and hand scissors finishes canines to clients desire. Cheriott also grooms cats.

To welcome the new First Family to Washington, a First Family Puppy Gift Bag will be presented to the First Family, President Obama, wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia at a White House event, end of March or first part of April 2009. Early this past summer staff members, Sharon & Karen, were thrilled to be able to give Daisy Girl Scouts, Troup 2104, a tour and lecture on in-store small animals (hamsters, rats, bunnies, guinea pigs), reptiles (geckos, bearded dragons, frogs, turtles), birds (cockatiels, finches, canaries, parakeets) and fish (fresh water species). The Girl Scouts left understanding a lot more about our domestic pets and what is required to raise healthy, happy animals.
